Arriving at Barcelona
Barcelona can be easily reached by car, plane or train:
By plane:
The Barcelona airport of El Prat is served by all major airlines. There are several ways to go from the Airport to the city:
Taking a taxi is the simplest and maybe the fastest way. The cost of a taxi from the airport to the city can be between 15 and 25 Euros.
You can also take the train. Trains leave the airport every 30 minutes to Barcelona and take you to Sants Station. From there you can take the metro, bus or taxi to reach your final destination.
The last possibility is taking the bus. Each Airport terminal has a bus stop outside. They can be recognized by their blue color. The bus, leaving every 15 minutes, takes you to Plaça de Catalunya in the city center.
In the vicinity of Barcelona there are two other airports that
are currently being used by some low-cost airlines, in particular Ryan
Air. These are the airports of Girona and Reus. Both are around 100 Km
far from Barcelona and they have a bus connection to the center of the
city, where you can take the metro to your final destination.
By train:
Barcelona is connected by train not only to the main Spanish cities,
but also to Paris, Berna, Zurich, Geneve, Lausanne, Milano and Torino.
If you arrive at Barcelona by train, you will probably arrive
at Sants Station (Barcelona main station). From there you can take
the metro, bus or taxi to reach your final destination. On their way to
Sants, some trains may also stop at Passeig de Gracia. If this is your
case and your hotel is located in the city center, you may consider
leaving the train there, since this station is already in the center of
Barcelona.
If you are going to arrive at Barcelona by any other means (car,
coach,...) and you need information, please contact us at etaps04@lsi.upc.es.
Reaching your Residence
or Hotel
Below you can find information about how to reach the residences and
hotels offered by the ETAPS 04 registration and accommodation service.
If you have reserved a hotel room on your own, then you can look at
the Barcelona
Metropolitan Transport pages to find the best way to reach your
hotel. In particular if you click "I want to go to ...", you will find
an application that will tell you the best ways of going from any given
origin to any given destination.
Reaching Residencia Torre Girona
From the Airport:
Going from the Airport to the Residencia Torre Girona by taxi is quite fast . Unless you are arriving in a rush hour (7:30 - 9:30 and 17:00 - 20:00) it will take you around 15 minutes since both the Airport and the Campus Nord of the UPC are on the south of Barcelona and the Campus is "almost" connected by highway with the Airport. If you want to come by taxi, ask the driver to take you to the "cantonada Dulcet i Passeig dels Til.lers" (this means the crossing of the streets of Dulcet and Passeig dels Til.lers). If the driver asks you the way to go, you should answer that via the "Ronda de Dalt (exit 10)". This is the highway that links the UPC and the Airport. The taxi should cost you 15 - 20 Euro.
