TUTORIAL T11

Foundations and Application of Graph Transformation

Presented by Luciano Baresi and Reiko Heckel

April 13, 2002, afternoon

Abstract :

The tutorial is intended as a general introduction to the use of graph transformation in areas like software engineering, programming and the description of software development tools.

It is specifically directed toward scientists who are not familiar with the field. Attending the tutorial should enable them to understand the theoretical bases of graph transformation, foresee possible connections with their own work, and read the relevant literature.

The tutorial starts with a presentation of the key ingredients of graph transformation and graph grammars as well as a discussion of their formalization. Based on this, applications are discussed by means of prototypical examples.
